Google launches operating system for budget smartphones

Google has launched a basic version of its operating system, for budget smartphones in India.

The Android-based operating system is named Android Oreo Go, and it will have a size as small as 512 megabytes. This operating system will lead to an average 15% faster app startup time, and active Data Saver features that will be done by default.

The company is also expecting user to have 50% more storage on their phones and on an average save 1,000 more pictures.

According to Caesar Sengupta, Vice-President, Next Billion Users, “Android Oreo (Go edition) will help improve the experience on entry-level phones while new apps like Files Go will ensure their experience is smooth and they consume less data.”
