Shares of Gujarat Fluorochemicals Ltd ended 3% lower after touching a dayβs high of Rs 3,701 on 11th September, after the company stated that operations at its Ranjitnagar plant in Gujaratβs Panchmahal district were temporarily disrupted on 10th September due to a minor rupture in a gas pipeline, causing a leak.
Gujarat Fluorochemicals said the gas leak was quickly contained using automated safety systems, including sprinklers and shutdowns, and all personnel were evacuated.
Workers potentially exposed received first aid at the plant, and some were sent to nearby hospitals. One casualty was reported, likely during the evacuation rush, with the post-mortem pending. The company expressed condolences and support for the family.
A detailed investigation is underway, and the company continues to prioritise safety. The incidentβs impact, including equipment damage and business interruption, is covered by insurance. Operations will resume after completing the required safety and statutory checks.
