Havells India Partners with Swedish Tech Startup Blixt Tech AB

The new line of products will be fully outsourced and cater exclusively to the domestic market.

On Tuesday, leading electrical and appliance manufacturer Havells India said it has entered into a commercial agreement with Swedish tech startup Blixt Tech AB to launch solid-state circuit breaker (SSCB) technology in the domestic market.

With the introduction of SSCB, Havells has strengthened its position in the switchgear segment. It also underscores Havells’ focus on innovative and future-proof solutions, a joint statement said.

“Through this association, Havells is expected to impact the Indian electrical industry significantly,” it said.

Demand for high-power applications in India will grow faster in the coming decades. Power systems are expected to become technologically advanced and smart and facilitate IT-enabled data sharing and management technologies, Havells said.

SSCBs can interrupt electrical current faster than traditional mechanical circuit breakers and, unlike conventional electromechanical circuit breakers, experience no wear because digital switches have virtually no arcing. “SSCBs are poised to become a key technology for the industry,” it said.

“Through this partnership, we are poised to significantly impact the future of the electrical industry in India and globally.

“SSCBs have diverse applications in the electrical industry, including power distribution, renewable energy, data centres, electric vehicles, and aerospace and defence,” said Vivek Yadav, Executive Vice President of Havells India.

Trued Holmquist, Co-Founder and CEO of BLIXT, said: “Partnering with the Indian market leader will allow us to scale faster and enter a huge market that is rapidly transforming. “We believe the fit and timing are perfect, and with Havells, we will reach millions of customers who will benefit from this new technology.”
