HCLTech Launches Nano GCCs on AWS to Help Firms Scale AI

HCLTech
HCLTech announced a Rs 500 crore expansion of its Lucknow IT city.

HCLTech launched AI-powered nano Global Capability Centres on AWS to help companies scale AI projects from trials to real use.

HCL Technologies Ltd announced the service on 28 October. It sits inside the company’s GCC 360 suite and mixes its advice on setting up such centres with its own AI platforms, including AI Force.

A Global Capability Centre, or GCC, is a company’s own technology team based in India that works for its parent abroad. Most are large.

The nano version goes small, with compact teams built around a single product, AI-based ways of working and a plan to start modestly and grow step by step.

Two kinds of customers are in focus. Firms that already run a GCC in India can add AI work without disturbing current operations, using a hub-and-spoke set-up led from HCLTech’s Lucknow campus.

Mid-sized firms with no presence in India get a low-risk way to begin. The service covers AI-based software engineering, automated IT operations, data and analytics, and smarter business operations, with responsible AI rules built in.

HCLTech designs and runs the set-up. AWS adds joint sales support and access to AI tools such as Amazon Bedrock, Kiro and AWS Transform.

The first rollout will be in the Asia Pacific region. Work will come from HCLTech’s India-based team, backed by its Center of Excellence in Lucknow.

The launch follows a busy October. On 6 October, HCLTech announced a Rs 500 crore expansion of its Lucknow IT city.

On 13 October, it signed a global premier partnership with Anthropic to scale AI tools that can act on their own.

On 26 October, it completed the purchase of Robotiq.ai, a Croatian automation firm, through its Austrian arm. It had first told exchanges about the deal on 28 September.

In its July to September results, announced on 12 October, HCLTech reported a net profit of Rs 5,132 crore, up 21% from a year earlier.
