HCLTech touched a day high of Rs 1,290 on Tuesday after launching a Rs 185 crore Advanced Semiconductor Lab in Bengaluru.
The company has invested Rs 185 crore to set up this Advanced Semiconductor Lab, marking a fresh push into semiconductor testing and engineering services. Let’s break down what this facility actually does.
Spread across 40,000 square feet, the lab includes 25,000 square feet of specialised cleanrooms, known as Class 10K and Class 1K cleanrooms, built to keep dust and contamination to an absolute minimum.
This space is designed to handle everything from post-silicon engineering to advanced testing and failure analysis, all under one roof. The lab isn’t working with basic tools either.
It’s equipped with equipment from major names like Teradyne, Advantest, Keysight, Tektronix and Thermo Fisher Scientific, and it will support work across research and development, pre-production, and full production qualification stages.
This new setup fits into what HCLTech calls its Spec2Parts model, essentially a single platform that takes a product from initial design specifications all the way to a finished semiconductor part, covering validation, testing, and failure analysis in one place.
The company is also aiming for several important global certifications for this facility, including ISO 17025, ISO 9001, AS 9100 for aerospace and defence use, and ISO 13485 for medical applications.
Speaking at the launch, Hari Sadarahalli, who heads Engineering and R&D Services at HCLTech, said the new lab reflects India’s growing role in semiconductor innovation and the company’s investment in advanced engineering capabilities.
HCLTech brings two decades of experience in the semiconductor space to this project.
The company employs over 223,000 people across 60 countries and reported consolidated revenue of 14.8 billion dollars for the twelve months ending June 2026.
On Tuesday, HCLTech shares closed at Rs 1,277.00 on Tuesday, down 0.45% for the day. The stock remains down close to 22% so far in 2026.
