HDFC Bank First Quarter Update: Advances grow 13.1%, Deposits Rise by 19.2% YoY

HDFC Bank registered a 15.8% growth in its advances in Q1FY23.

HDFC Bank, the private lending giant in the country, registered a 15.8% growth in its advances at approximately Rs 16,15,500 crore as of Q1FY23 against the Rs 13,95,100 crore of FY22. 

Per the bank’s business classification, domestic retail loans have grown around 20% YoY and 4% against the previous quarter. Commercial and rural banking loans grew around 29% YoY and 2.0% against the previous quarter. Talking about corporate and other wholesale loans grew by around 11.0% YoY but did not grow significantly against the previous quarter. 

HDFC Bank, in a regulatory filing on Wednesday, conveyed that its deposit summed up to approximately Rs 19,13,000 crore in the current quarter; they registered a 19.2% growth from the previous fiscal year and a 1.6% growth against the previous quarter. 

HDFC Ltd, the largest mortgage lender, merged with HDFC Bank on July 1, 2023. The merged entity’s gross advances amounted to Rs 22,45,000 crore as of June 30 2023, up by 13.1% against the previous fiscal year and around 0.75 from the previous quarter. 

At 10:42 am, the share of HDFC Bank was trading 3.25% lower at 1,672.55 a piece on BSE.
