Heavy Floods in Islamabad Due to Cloudburst

Pakistan’s capital Islamabad has flooded due to a cloudburst, local media reported on Wednesday. The Office of Deputy Commissioner Islamabad confirmed the news and asked the city’s citizens to avoid unnecessary action for the next 2 hours.


Islamabad Deputy Commissioner Muhammed Hamza Shafqaat said, “Cloudburst in Islamabad has caused flooding in several areas. Teams are clearing nullahs and roads. Hopefully, we will be able to clear everything in an hour”.
Later, the Deputy Commissioner announced that the roads of Islamabad were clear for traffic. Videos from Islamabad’s sectors E-11 and D-12 showed cars floating in flowing water after heavy rains. Pakistan Meteorological Department (PKD) said that some areas in Islamabad got up to 330mm of rain in the last few hours.
