HeidelbergCement India signed a 50-year mining deal with the Madhya Pradesh government, securing 63 million tonnes of limestone reserves.
The deal is a Mine Development and Production Agreement covering the Sukha-Satpara limestone block in Damoh district.
The company had already won rights to this land back in 2023 through a government e-auction.
What’s new now is that the auction win has been turned into an active, legally binding agreement with the Department of Mineral Resources.
Limestone is the main raw material in cement production. Having a captive, nearby source of it for the next 50 years means the company doesn’t need to depend on outside suppliers or worry about price swings for this input.
The block itself spans around 216 hectares and holds an estimated 63 million tonnes of limestone, which should support the company’s central India operations for decades.
There’s other business news around the company too. For the quarter ended 30 June 2026, HeidelbergCement India reported revenue of βΉ628.11 crore, up 5.1% year on year.
Profit after tax fell sharply, though, down 36.7% to βΉ30.55 crore, as raw material, power and fuel costs rose faster than sales.
On the expansion side, the company received consent from the Madhya Pradesh Pollution Control Board for a new cement blending and grinding unit at Dongaliya village in Khandwa district.
It’s also making progress on sustainability. Alternate fuels now account for around 12% of its energy mix, and more than half its power comes from non-grid sources.
Shareholders have something to look forward to as well. The company fixed 11 September 2026 as the record date for a dividend of βΉ7 per share, relating to the financial year that ended in March 2026.
Put together, the limestone agreement gives HeidelbergCement India raw material certainty for the next five decades, even as it navigates near-term cost pressure and continues expanding its footprint in central India.
