Hyundai Motor India Set to Recall 1,744 Units of Ioniq 5

The company is recalling these units due to a potential issue in the integrated charging control unit.

Hyundai Motor India on Friday 14 June announced that they are planning to recall 1,744 units of its electric model Ioniq 5. 

According the the information available with industry body SIAM, the company is recalling the units that were manufactured between 21 July 2023 and 30 April 2024, to fix the issue with the integrated charging control unit. 

The company is recalling these units due to a potential issue in the integrated charging control unit that can cause a discharge of the 12-volt battery. 

The company’s spokesperson said That customer safety is our top priority at Hyundai Motor India. The Ioniq 5 recall is a proactive step to inspect and upgrade the Integrated Charging Control Unit (ICCU) in the affected vehicles at no cost to the customers.”

The dedicated team of the company will get in touch with the vehicle owners and guide them through the recall process. 

In its monthly sales for May, the company reported a 1% year-on-year increase in total sales to 49,151 units in May 2024 from 48,601 units sold in May 2023.

Hyundai Motors India retails 11 models in India, including two sedans (Verna, Aura), two Hatchbacks (i20, Grand i10 Nios), five SUVs (Venue, Exeter, Creta, Alcazar, and Tucson), and two electric SUVs (Kona, Ioniq 5).
