Hyundai Trademarks Alcazar Name For New SUV In India

Recently leaked document suggests that Hyundai Motor Company has trademarked the name Alcazar in India. The document reveals that the name has been trademarked for a new Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) and given the fact that the only new Hyundai SUV currently expected to make its debut is the 7-seated version of the Creta, Alcazar could be its official name. The upcoming 7-seater version of the Hyundai Creta is currently undergoing testing in South Korea, and based on the spy photos, it’s nearing production.

Engine setup of the 7-seater Hyundai Creta (Hyundai Alcazar) is likely to be similar to the 5-seater model. That said, it might come with three powertrain options – 1.5L U2 CRDi diesel (113bhp/250Nm), 1.5L naturally-aspirated petrol (113bhp/114Nm) and 1.4L GDi turbo petrol (138bhp/242Nm). While the 1.5L petrol Creta can be had either with a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed iVT automatic gearbox, the 1.5L diesel model is available with a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic torque converter gearbox option. A 7-speed DCT (dual-clutch transmission) gearbox is reserved for the turbo-petrol variants.

Maruti Suzuki India has rolled out the BS6-compliant CNG version of the S-Presso mini SUV. Launched as a part of the company’s Mission Green Million project, the BS6 Maruti S-Presso CNG has been made available in four variants LXi, LXi (O), VXi and VXi (O) priced at Rs 4.84 lakh, Rs 4.90 lakh, Rs 5.07 lakh and Rs 5.13 lakh respectively. All prices are ex-showroom, Delhi. The BS6 S-CNG variants are available with both manual and AGS gearbox options.
