IFA Lifts Suspension of All India Football Federation

FIFA has acknowledged that the mandate of the CoA had been terminated.

On Friday, the World Football Governing body FIFA lifted the All India Football Federation (AIFF) ban imposed on August 16 of this month. The ban was lifted after the Supreme Court terminated the obligation of the Committee of Administrators (CoA). India will host the Women’s U-17 World Cup on 11-30 October 2022.

FIFA has acknowledged that the mandate of the CoA had been terminated and that the AIFF had regained complete control of the AIFF’s regular affairs. Consequently, the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup 2022 is scheduled to take place on 11-30 October 2022, hosted by India as planned.

Also, FIFA exclaimed that the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) would continue to monitor the circumstances, supporting the AIFF to initiate its elections in a timely manner.
General Secretary of AIFF Sunando Dhar thanked FIFA, AFC and Sports Minister Anurag Thakur for their contribution and said that the darkest hour of Indian Football is finally over.

Headquartered in New Delhi, it functions under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India. Initially formed in 1935 at Darbhanga, the federation was one of the founding members of the Asian Football Confederation.
