India and Denmark are looking to strengthen their clean energy partnership, with discussions focusing on offshore wind power, green hydrogen and the integration of renewable energy into electricity networks.
The talks took place on 03 November 2026 during the Bharat Renewable Energy Summit and Expo 2026 in New Delhi. Denmark’s Business and Competitiveness Minister Martin Lidegaard met India’s New and Renewable Energy Minister Pralhad Joshi to explore opportunities for greater cooperation in renewable energy and attract more investment into India’s clean energy sector.
Both countries are exploring ways to combine India’s growing renewable energy market with Denmark’s experience in wind technology and energy management.
India currently has nearly 60 GW of installed wind energy capacity and aims to increase it to 100 GW by 2030. The country recorded its highest annual wind capacity addition of 6.05 GW in FY26.
Denmark, meanwhile, brings decades of experience in offshore wind development and integrating renewable power into electricity networks.
The discussions also covered green hydrogen, energy storage, renewable energy forecasting and improving electricity grid management. These areas are important for ensuring a stable power supply as countries increase their dependence on renewable sources.
India’s non-fossil fuel based installed power capacity has reached 310 GW, compared with 200 GW in September 2024. The renewable energy sector has also attracted more than $67 billion in investments over the past two years, including $6.2 billion in foreign investment.
Stronger cooperation with Denmark could help India access advanced technology, attract foreign investment and accelerate offshore wind development.
The partnership could also create opportunities for Danish companies to participate in India’s expanding renewable energy market while supporting the country’s long term clean energy ambitions.
