India Bids Farewell to CDS Bipin Rawat With 17-Gun Salute

The mortal remains of Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Bipin Rawat and his wife were brought to the Brar Square in Delhi, where they were cremated. As per protocol, General Rawat was accorded with a 17-gun salute. Hundreds of people had assembled outside their residence to show their honour. General Bipin Rawat had died on 8 December along with his wife and 11 others in a helicopter crash near Coonoor in Tamil Nadu.


Total 800 service personnel attended the military funeral of CDS Rawat. After the Last Post and the Rouse played by the tri-services buglers, the funeral pyre was torched by family members, during which he was accorded with a 17-gun salute in his honour.


Many political leaders like Home Minister Amit Shah, UP CM Yogi Adityanath, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal, Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami, and DMK leaders A Raja and Kanimozhi paid their tributes to CDS Rawat and his wife Madhulika Rawat.
