India and the European Union have adopted a new 2030 roadmap to deepen their strategic partnership, aiming to boost cooperation across trade, technology, security, climate action, and people-to-people ties amid growing global uncertainty.
The agenda is titled “Towards 2030: India–EU Joint Comprehensive Strategic Agenda.” It is built around five pillars, including prosperity and sustainability, technology and innovation, security and defence, connectivity, and people-centric cooperation.
On trade and investment, both sides committed to advancing the India–EU Free Trade Agreement (FTA). They agreed to speed up talks on investment protection and geographical indications. Additionally, they will scale up bilateral and third-country investments under the EU’s Global Gateway strategy.
In technology and innovation, the India–EU Trade and Technology Council (TTC) was reaffirmed as the core platform. Cooperation spans semiconductors, AI, quantum computing, digital public infrastructure, 6G, and clean technologies. The next TTC ministerial meeting will be held in Brussels in 2026.
On climate and clean energy, the two sides reiterated their commitment to the Paris Agreement. They strengthened cooperation on clean energy, welcomed the India–EU Green Hydrogen Task Force, and announced an India–EU Wind Business Summit in 2026.
Security, connectivity, and mobility also featured prominently, with plans to deepen defence and maritime cooperation. In addition, they will advance connectivity projects including IMEC, and strengthen education, skills, and mobility frameworks to boost people-to-people ties.
