India has expressed willingness to host the 2026 World Circular Economy Forum to drive real change and strengthen collaboration with Asia-Pacific nations, Union Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav said on Tuesday.
At the 12th Regional 3R and Circular Economy Forum in Jaipur, Yadav highlighted the circular economy’s potential for major business transformation.
The World Circular Economy Forum (WCEF), a global initiative by Finland and Sitra since 2017, brings together international leaders to discuss key solutions.
India has over 3,500 recycling units processing 45 million metric tonnes of waste annually, aiming to enhance regional cooperation.
The circular economy could contribute USD 4.5 trillion to the global economy by 2030 and be worth over USD 2 trillion in India by 2050, creating nearly 10 million jobs.
Yadav emphasised that circularity is more than a business modelβit is a way of life, aligning with India’s Mission LiFE for sustainable living.
