DRDO (Defence Research and Development Organisation) and the Indian Navy successfully tested the indigenously developed Multi-Influence Ground Mine (MIGM).
The mine is designed to detect stealth submarines and surface ships using acoustic, magnetic, and pressure sensors.
The test with reduced explosives marks a key step in enhancing India’s undersea warfare capabilities.
MIGM has been developed by NSTL (Naval Science and Technological Laboratory), Visakhapatnam, in collaboration with DRDO labs in Pune and Chandigarh. Bharat Dynamics Ltd and Apollo Microsystems Ltd will handle the mine production.
With this successful validation, the mine is ready for induction into the Indian Navy, said DRDO and the Defence Minister.
