India Successfully Tests Pralay Missile From Odisha Coast

India successfully test-fired the ballistic Pralay Missile off the Odisha Coast, Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) said. The battlefield missile developed by DRDO is based on Prithvi Defence Vehicle from the Indian ballistic missile agenda.

The missile was blasted off from the APJ Abdul Kalam Island around 10:30 am meeting all the mission objectives. Pralay is a 350 to 500 km short-range and surface-to-surface missile with 500 to 1,000 kg cargo capacity. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh tweeted, “Congratulations to the DRDO and associated teams for the flight trial. My compliments to them for the fast-track development and successful launch of the modern Surface-to-Surface Quasi Ballistic missile. It is a brilliant milestone to achieve.”

“The mission has met all its objectives. The new missile achieved the desired quasi ballistic course and reached the designated target with high degree accuracy, validating the control, guidance and mission algorithms. All the sub-systems performed very well,” a DRDO statement said.
