India is more concerned about green energy than any other country globally, India’s Union Minister of Oil and Gas Hardeep Singh Puri said on Monday. He said that particular emphasis is placed on green hydrogen, biofuel blending, and the exploration and production of biofuels from alternative sources. India will eventually become a leader in green hydrogen, Puri asserts.
From 2030 to 2025, the 20 per cent ethanol blending target has been advanced and will be achieved, he said.
Puri, a minister of housing and urban affairs, said that when the Covid-19 pandemic swept the world, India responded quickly and effectively, and one of the most critical decisions was to speed up vaccine development and manufacturing during wartime.
“The vaccine production capacity that India had before was almost shattered between 2004-2014,” Puri said, adding that one of the most important decisions taken by the Modi government in the wake of the global epidemic was to increase vaccine production at unprecedented speeds.
