India is stepping up diplomatic outreach in Canada. The Indian High Commissioner is holding a series of high-level meetings to strengthen ties and deepen cooperation.
The envoy met Canadian House of Commons Speaker Francis Scarpaleggia to discuss ways to advance parliamentary engagement. They also discussed shared democratic values and future collaboration. Additionally, India will host a delegation led by Scarpaleggia in January at the 28th Conference of Speakers and Presiding Officers of Parliaments of Commonwealth Countries (CSPOC).
A day earlier, the High Commissioner met Immigration Minister Lena Metlege Diab for talks focused on improving bilateral cooperation. Discussions covered immigration processes, student-related concerns, and better understanding of each country’s systems, with an emphasis on boosting people-to-people connections.
Both meetings signal a renewed push to stabilise and strengthen India–Canada ties through dialogue and institutional engagement.
