Indore-Based EKI Lists India’s Plastic Project under Global Accreditation Standard

The project is an initiative to recycle polythene Terephthalate (PET) waste, PET flakes, and chips and produce a Recycled Polyester Staple Fibre (RPSF).

On Tuesday, EKI energy services, a leading sustainability solutions provider, listed a plastic project under the Global Accreditation Standard and became the first company ever to achieve that milestone.

The Indore-based carbon credit expert has been working in the field of climate action and offset solutions for the past 14 years. Currently, the company has operations across 16 countries. The company has listed this plastic project with an ambition to generate India’s First international plastic credits.

The project is an initiative to recycle Polythene Terephthalate (PET) waste, PET flakes, and chips and produce a Recycled Polyester Staple Fibre (RPSF) for later use in the textile industry for manufacturing garments and other fabric-related utility products.

CMD and CEO of EKI Manish Dabkara said that the initiation of the project would inspire more companies to scale up their recycling activities in a structured manner for plastic finance that would promote and facilitate great climate action. He further added that such kind of a value chain would also empower all stakeholders in the collection and recycling process beginning from – the rag pickers to recycling facilities. The project is recorded under a Washington-based accreditation Verra.
