Indoreβs water crisis is easing, with fresh tests showing that drinking water in Bhagirathpura is free of harmful pathogens. Senior BJP leader and Madhya Pradesh minister Kailash Vijayvargiya shared a medical report from Sri Aurobindo Medical College & P.G. Institute (SAIMS Hospital), confirming that RT-PCR tests on five water samples returned negative results for E. coli, Vibrio cholerae, Salmonella, Rotavirus, and Enterovirus. Authorities, however, continue to advise residents to boil water as a precaution.
Meanwhile, a sub-divisional magistrate (SDM) in Dewas district was suspended for alleged negligence. This action followed his citation of Vijayvargiyaβs controversial remarks and Congress allegations in an official order on law-and-order management during a planned protest.
The suspension was ordered by Ujjain Division Revenue Commissioner Ashish Singh, citing serious irregularities.
Currently, 142 people remain hospitalised due to the diarrhoea outbreak, including 11 in the ICU. Screening of over 9,000 residents in Bhagirathpura, the epicentre of the infection, has identified 20 new cases. However, officials say the situation is now under control.
