Shares of Infosys Ltd, India’s second-largest IT services provider, surged 3% on Wednesday, 13 August, after the company announced the formation of a joint venture with Telstra, Australia’s premier telecommunications and technology firm, to accelerate AI-enabled cloud and digital transformation for Australian businesses.Β Β

The partnership is consistent with Infosys’ objective to assist clients in navigating their AI journey. As part of the arrangement, Infosys would purchase 75% of Versent Group, a Telstra wholly owned subsidiary and Australia’s premier provider of digital transformation solutions.  Infosys will take over operational control of Versent Group, with Telstra retaining a 25% minority share.

The cooperation intends to leverage Telstra’s connectivity, Versent’s local digital engineering knowledge, and Infosys’ worldwide scale to accelerate growth and provide greater value to consumers.

Versent Group has built a reputation for helping Australian businesses plan and implement cloud strategies with industry-leading partners, providing digital transformation with deep industry understanding. Versent Group, which employs 650 engineers, advisers, and strategists throughout Australia, expands Infosys’ local footprint.

Versent Group generally serves significant blue-chip companies with a strong presence in government and education, financial institutions, energy, and utilities.

Versent Group’s cloud and digital transformation skills will benefit from Infosys’ strong AI capabilities, as well as Cloud, Data, and Digital consultancy services.

The collaboration will use Infosys Topaz and Infosys Cobalt cloud offerings, as well as The Missing Link’s cybersecurity capabilities. It intends to provide a new wave of differentiated value to expedite end-to-end digital transformation for Australian businesses and government entities.

Infosys announced a strategic multi-year cooperation with Telstra in 2024 to accelerate its software engineering and IT transformation journey while also improving the customer experience. Additionally, in 2025, Infosys established a partnership with Telstra International to expand technological leadership, drive innovation, and support Telstra’s new Connected Future 30 plan.

At 12:46 pm, the shares of Infosys were trading 1.72% higher at R 1,451.10 on NSE.
