Instagram chief Adam Mosseri has revealed a new video editing app called Edits, designed to compete with CapCut. The app is available for preorder on the iOS App Store and will launch on 13th March 2025.

CapCut, a popular video editing tool, recently went offline in the U.S., raising concerns about the future of ByteDance-owned platforms like TikTok.

Mosseri highlighted that Edits will have a broader range of creative tools than CapCut, with AI-driven editing for individual clips or videos.

The release of Edits comes as TikTok faces uncertainty, signalling Meta’s intent to capitalise on the situation.
