State-owned infrastructure company, IRCON International, secured a contract worth Rs 96.25 crore from Konkan Railway Corporation Limited.
The order involves maintaining tunnel communication systems along the Katra-Banihal railway section of Northern Railway and provides revenue visibility over the next five years.
The contract was awarded on October 8, 2026, and includes a comprehensive annual maintenance agreement for the Integrated Tunnel Communication System.
The total contract value of Rs 96.25 crore includes GST, and the execution period is 60 months. The project will support the reliable operation of communication and safety systems across this important railway section.
Under the agreement, IRCON will maintain several critical systems, including IP-based video surveillance, public address systems, emergency communication facilities and networking infrastructure. These systems are installed across railway tunnels, bridges and stations to support passenger safety, operational coordination and communication during emergencies.
The maintenance contract is particularly important for railway infrastructure in tunnel-heavy sections, where reliable communication networks help railway staff monitor operations and respond to incidents. Regular maintenance also helps ensure that surveillance and emergency systems remain functional throughout the contract period.
IRCON clarified that the contract was awarded by a domestic entity and does not involve any related-party transaction. The company also stated that its promoters, promoter group and group companies have no interest in the entity awarding the contract. citeturn781296search1
