Jet Airways' Two More Aircraft Grounded Due To Non-payment

Debt-laden Jet Airways has announced that due to non-payment of lease rentals, two more of its aircraft have been grounded. This makes the total number of aircraft staying on the ground to 23. With the grounding of two additional planes, Jet Airways’ almost 20 per cent aircraft fleet are now out of operations.
Jet Airways in its regulatory filing stated, “An additional two aircraft have been grounded due to non-payment of amounts outstanding to lessors under their respective lease agreements.” Prior to this statement, the airliner announced the grounding of six planes on February 28 and seven aircraft on February 27, due to the similar reasons.
The airliner, on February 23, had also declared the grounding of two aircraft due to the non-payment of rental lease. The similar reason also caused four of Jet Airways plane to go out of operations, on February 7.
Jet Airways Ltd in a statement released said, “the company is actively engaged with all its aircraft lessors and regularly provides them with updates on the efforts undertaken by the company to improve its liquidity.”
The statement added, “The Company is also making all efforts to minimize disruption to its network due to the above and is proactively informing and re-accommodating its affected guests.”
