Jindal Worldwide shares hit a 20% upper circuit and 52-week high of Rs 57.78 on Friday, extending a two-day rally.

The stock’s big move actually began a day earlier. On Thursday, shares jumped nearly 20% after the company confirmed that Amit Yamunadutt Agarwal had been reappointed as Managing Director, with the change taking effect from 3 September.

Interestingly, the stock had actually been trading around 4.5% lower earlier that same day, before the announcement completely reversed the mood.

This reappointment wasn’t just a routine boardroom decision either, it came with strong backing. At the company’s 40th Annual General Meeting held on 1 September, shareholders approved Agarwal’s reappointment with 99.88% of votes in favour.

The meeting also cleared a related resolution to raise the company’s authorised share capital, which needed changes to its Memorandum of Association, and this too passed with 99.95% support.

Trading activity around the stock has been unusually heavy through this rally. On Friday alone, more than 1 crore shares changed hands during intraday trade, a volume that worked out to over 12.5 times the stock’s usual 10 day average.

There’s more happening behind the scenes as well. Last month, Jindal Worldwide’s board had approved a plan to raise up to Rs 650 crore through a rights issue, though the exact record date and other terms are still to be finalised and will need regulatory clearance.

On the earnings side, the company’s numbers for the quarter ended June 2026 also came in strong.

Total income rose 18.6% to Rs 569.44 crore, revenue grew nearly 18.9% to Rs 568.72 crore, and net profit increased 6.25% to Rs 14.79 crore compared to the same period last year.

Jindal Worldwide finally settled the day at Rs 57.51, up 19.44% or Rs 9.36 from Thursday’s close of Rs 48.15, marking one of its strongest two day rallies in recent months.
