Shares of JSW Energy Ltd fell 1% after touching a dayβs high of Rs 541.40 on 6th August, despite the company announcing the commissioning of the second 80 MW unit of its 240 MW (3×80 MW) Kutehr hydroelectric power plant in Himachal Pradesh.
With this, the plantβs commissioned capacity has reached 160 MW. Located in Chamba, Himachal Pradesh, it is recognised as one of Indiaβs fastest-developed greenfield hydro projects. Power supply from the operational capacity has already begun to Haryana, and the final 80 MW unit is expected soon.
βThe timing helps us capitalise on high water inflows during the peak generation season and reinforces our strong project execution capabilities,β said Sharad Mahendra, Joint MD and CEO of JSW Energy. The first 80 MW unit was commissioned on 4th August.
The entire 240 MW output is secured under a 35-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with the Haryana Power Purchase Centre at a levelised ceiling tariff of Rs 4.50 per kilowatt-hour, supplying electricity to Haryanaβs state utilities.
With this addition, JSW Energyβs hydro capacity stands at 1,551 MW. Combined with 2,157 MW of solar and 3,562 MW of wind, renewables now account for 56% of its portfolio. Its total locked-in generation capacity is 30.3 GW, comprising 12.9 GW of operational capacity and 12.8 GW under construction, along with 29.4 GWh of energy storage (26.4 GWh from hydro pumped storage and 3.0 GWh from battery storage).
At 1:18 PM, the shares of JSW Energy were trading 0.56% lower at Rs 534.70 on NSE.
