JSW Group Partners IIT Bombay T0 Set Up Steel Technology Hub

JSW Group and IIT Bombay have signed an exclusive strategic agreement to build a state-of-the-art JSW Technology Hub in India for steel manufacturing. The institute has created the Centre of Excellence in Steel Technology (CoEST) with the support of the Ministry of Steel, Government of India.

The JSW Technology Hub is going to be established within the CoEST. The key objective is to rapidly expand quality steel production while simultaneously maintaining carbon emissions within the target levels.

This partnership will pave the way for intensifying research and development (R&D) efforts in the steel sector. It will develop capabilities in the area of steel technology for the Indian conglomerate. Beyond the steel domain, the Technology Hub will also be the nodal point for JSW Group’s research activities.

Under the agreement, JSW will provide financial and technical support for developing the hub with state-of-the-art infrastructure to undertake a wide range of R&D for steel manufacturing and its use.

The centre is to be constructed using JSW Neosteel rebars. The premier institute is expected to complete the construction of the JSW Technology Hub by FY28.

Further, this partnership will leverage the Technology Hub to jointly conduct inter-disciplinary research projects and technical activities on various domains of steel manufacturing and its applications.

Earlier this month, the company agreed with ElectricPe to develop an electric charging infrastructure.
