Shares of Jupiter Wagons Limited hit a day high of Rs 189.40 on 2 November, up 4%, after the firm bagged wagon orders worth over Rs 324 crore.
In a filing to the exchanges, the company said two private firms have placed the business.
GATX India Private Limited and Chetak International Private Limited both want ACT2 wagons, a new design built to carry cars from factories to showrooms.
GATX India, a rail leasing company, is the bigger buyer.
Its Letter of Intent covers 10 rakes, or 270 wagons, valued at Rs 214.94 crore.
A rake is simply one full train formation. This is not yet a final order.
Chetak International has placed a firm order for five rakes, or 135 wagons, worth Rs 109.10 crore. Unlike the GATX deal, this one is confirmed, so the work is locked in.
Put together, the two deals add up to 15 rakes, 405 wagons and Rs 324.04 crore, and every figure includes GST. No delivery timeline was given.
Managing Director Vivek Lohia said the wins show how much private leasing and logistics companies trust the ACT2 design, and the firm’s ability to supply in large numbers.
He said a balanced mix of government and private customers gives the company healthy visibility on future work.
Jupiter Wagons makes freight wagons, locomotives, ISO marine containers and train parts, and runs 14 facilities across India.
In late October, the company also secured a Rs 1,140 crore order from the Railway Board for 2,583 wagons.
So the order book now carries both government and private business.
At 11:34 am, the stock was trading at Rs 188.30 on NSE, up Rs 6.52 or 3.59% on the day.
It has gained 7.84% over the past week, though it is still down 41.64% over one year. Its 52-week high stands at Rs 358.25.
