Jyoti Global Plast has secured a Rs 8.63 crore order from Paras Defence to supply precision components for aerospace imaging systems.

This isn’t a completely new direction for the company. Jyoti Global Plast has spent more than four decades building its business around plastic and fibre reinforced polymer moulding, supplying everything from packaging and automotive parts to toys and children’s furniture.

Over recent years, though, it has been steadily adding defence and aerospace manufacturing capabilities alongside these older business lines, and this latest order fits into that expansion.

Deven Bhawanji Shah, the company’s whole time director and CEO, said the order reflects growing confidence in the company’s manufacturing quality and precision engineering work.

He added that scaling up the defence and aerospace segment remains a core part of where the company wants to take its business over the coming years.

The company hasn’t disclosed a specific delivery timeline for this particular order or shared the current size of its overall order book.

There’s been other movement at the company recently too. Earlier this month, on September 2, Jyoti Global Plast commissioned a 1.9 MW captive solar power plant at its facility in Akole, Maharashtra, funded using a portion of its IPO proceeds.

The idea behind this is straightforward: lower energy costs as the company scales up its higher margin aerospace and defence contracts.

Separately, credit rating agency CRISIL upgraded the company’s long term bank facility rating to BBB-/Stable from BB+/Stable on August 17, citing improved operating efficiency.

At its annual general meeting held on August 21, shareholders also approved the appointment of Sugandha Rane as an independent director for a five year term.

Founded on the strength of its polymer moulding business, Jyoti Global Plast now finds itself increasingly positioned as a specialised component supplier to India’s growing defence manufacturing ecosystem, a shift the company appears keen to keep building on.
