Shares of KEC International jumped 5% intraday on Wednesday, touching Rs 514.40, after the company bagged orders worth Rs 1,180 crore.

The order wins span four business verticals. In transmission and distribution, KEC picked up a 400 kV line project in western India that will supply power to a data centre.

It’s the firm’s first order of this kind, and it comes alongside contracts to supply transmission line towers in the Middle East and towers, hardware and poles in the Americas.

There’s more beyond T&D too. The renewables arm secured an order for a solar photovoltaic project exceeding 200 MW in western India, awarded by an existing private developer.

On the civil side, KEC will carry out additional structural work for a 150 MW thermal power plant in eastern India.

Its cables and conductors business also picked up several orders in India and abroad, though values for these weren’t disclosed.

MD and CEO Vimal Kejriwal called the data centre order a milestone, given how fast that segment is growing.

He added that the Middle East contract has strengthened the tower supply business, while the new solar award reflects the company’s ongoing relationships with existing clients.

With this latest batch, KEC’s order intake for the financial year so far has crossed Rs 5,200 crore. That builds on a run of wins the firm has reported through the year across its core infrastructure verticals.

At 10:15 am on Wednesday, KEC International shares were trading at Rs 512.20 on the NSE, up 4.55% or Rs 22.30, after touching an intraday high of Rs 514.40.

It’s still down about 31% for the year so far and roughly 42% lower than a year ago, though the stock has climbed 22% over the past five years.
