Several major venture capital firms, including Peak XV Partners, Lightspeed, General Catalyst and Activate, are in advanced talks to invest in at least six Indian AI startups.

The proposed investments range from $3 million to $10 million, highlighting rising interest in AI agents, enterprise software and AI-driven biotechnology.

Peak XV, Lightspeed and Blume Venture Capital are reportedly discussing an $8 million to $10 million investment in a new venture founded by former Zomato COO Rinshul Chandra.

The startup plans to develop AI agents that help businesses manage transactions and respond to requests from consumer-facing AI assistants. Its focus is on automating merchant operations rather than building consumer-focused AI concierge services.

Peak XV is also in talks to invest $4 million to $6 million in Spark Labs. Separately, Peak XV and General Catalyst are reportedly considering a $3 million investment in Erid Bio, which combines AI and laboratory technology to design and test biological molecules for potential drug development. The startup is reportedly valued at around $30 million.

General Catalyst is also discussing a $4 million investment in Dvar AI. The company helps Indian businesses customise open-weight AI models using their own data and deploy them on domestic infrastructure.

Meanwhile, AI-focused fund Activate is preparing to invest in Blackbird and Pathnovo, with each startup reportedly seeking around $4 million.

These discussions reflect a shift in investor interest towards practical AI applications, including business automation and specialised industry solutions, rather than only large AI models.

However, the deals are still under negotiation, and the final investment amounts and terms may change before completion.
