L&T shares touched a day high of ₹3,837.30 on Monday, after the company won a major order for a housing redevelopment project in Mumbai city.
Through L&T’s Residential, Commercial Buildings, and Factories vertical, an anonymous client placed the order.
In its exchange filing, L&T classified the order as “Major,” which under its own internal framework means the contract value falls somewhere between ₹5,000 crore and ₹10,000 crore. The company doesn’t disclose the exact figure, only the value band.
The project has a huge scope. It covers designing and building 26 high rise residential towers, each 120 metres tall, on a turnkey basis.
That means L&T handles everything from structural work to architectural finishes to electromechanical services, essentially delivering the buildings ready to use.
To keep up with the project’s tight delivery timeline, L&T plans to use what it calls large wall panel precast construction technology.
In simple terms, this means large sections of the buildings get manufactured at a dedicated precast facility first, and are then transported and assembled at the actual site, rather than being built entirely from scratch on location.
The company says this approach helps speed things up while keeping quality consistent. This isn’t the only big order L&T has landed recently either.
Just last week, its metals and minerals business bagged what the company calls “mega” orders, which fall in the ₹10,000 crore to ₹15,000 crore range, from several domestic clients.
A few days before that, its heavy engineering arm also picked up “large” orders worth ₹2,500 crore to ₹5,000 crore across Africa, Asia, and the Americas.
L&T is set to report its June quarter earnings on Tuesday, July 28, a day after this order was announced. L&T shares ended the day at ₹3,806, up 0.54% on the NSE.
