Larsen & Toubro shares hit a day high of Rs 3,702.60 on 21 October, up 1%, after the firm won large building orders in Delhi and Amaravati.
In a filing on 21 October, Larsen & Toubro Ltd said it has won orders to build government offices in India. There was no exact price tag.
Instead, L&T files such wins under its ‘large’ label, which means Rs 2,500 crore to Rs 5,000 crore.
Put simply, both jobs are office buildings. Delhi’s will serve as central government offices, while Amaravati’s towers sit beside a quantum computing centre.
The first job is in New Delhi, where the company will build new Central Secretariat offices on Kartavya Path.
Plans call for two government buildings of seven floors each, adding up to 32.8 lakh sq ft of workspace.
L&T has two years to finish them. It then looks after the buildings for five more years. The second job sits in Amaravati, Andhra Pradesh.
Here the engineering major will design and build two office towers of 47 floors each, standing on either side of the Amaravati Quantum Computing Centre.
Together they cover 37.5 lakh sq ft. This is not the only big project on its plate this month.
L&T has also begun early work on the New Tashkent International Airport after receiving a limited notice to proceed, which lets a contractor start before the full go-ahead.
Investors also have a date to watch. The L&T board meets on 27 October to consider the company’s financial results.
At 12:05 pm, it’s trading at Rs 3,649.50 on NSE, down by 0.34% from the previous close of Rs 3,661.90, having opened at Rs 3,679 and drifted lower through the morning after that early peak.
Over the past year, the stock has lost 6.18%. It is also down 11.89% so far this year.
