Mexico Economy Grows 0.9% in Q3 With Primary Sector Boost

In annual terms, the economy grew 4.3 per cent compared to a year earlier.

On Friday, the national statistics agency INEGI reported that Mexico’s economy grew 0.9 per cent in Q3 from the previous quarter, boosted mainly by the primary sector. The quarterly growth of the country came in slightly below market expectations, which remained at 1.0 per cent.

INEGI’s preliminary data published last month also pointed to a 1.0 per cent expansion in the quarter to September. Repeating the trend, Latin America’s second-largest economy reported across-the-board growth in the quarter, with primary, secondary and tertiary sectors expanding 2 per cent, 0.6 per cent and 1.1 per cent, respectively.

In annual terms, the economy grew 4.3 per cent compared to a year earlier, INEGI said, beating expectations of 4.1 per cent growth from economists polled by Reuters.
