Union Minister Narayan Rane was given bail after being arrested by Mumbai Police for threatening to slap Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray. Rane had said on August 23 in his Jan Ashirwad Yatra in Raigad district: “It is a shame that the Chief Minister does not know the year of independence. He leaned back to know the count of years of independence during his speech. Had I been there, I would have given him a tight slap.”

While, Rane’s lawyers said that his health condition was severe, and he suffered from sugar and blood pressure problems. After hearing both sides, the court refused the custody of the union minister. It instead remanded him in judicial custody and then, on the request by his lawyers, granted Rane bail on a fine of Rs 15,000. After getting bailed, Rane tweeted, “Satyamev Jayate.”
