Natco Pharma has launched a generic version of Teriflunomide, under its brand Denopsy. It is used for treating Relapsing and Remitting forms of Multiple Sclerosis (RRMS).
In the US market, Teriflunomide is sold by Sanofi-Genzyme under brand name of AUBAGIO. This is the first oral medicine for RRMS that is sold in India at two different strengths 14 mg & 7 mg tablets.
Moreover, as per WHO 2013 estimates, the number of patients who were suffering from Multiple Sclerosis (RRMS) in India is 5-20, per 1 lakh population.
