New Ministers Take Charge After Cabinet Reshuffle

A day after the reshuffle of the Union Cabinet, newly appointed ministers took charge of their assignments, including Mansukh Mandaviya as the new Health Minister, Ashwini Vaishnaw as the new Railways, and IT minister, and Anurag Thakur as the new Information and Broadcasting minister.


Hours after 43 leaders took oath as ministers in the Rashtrapati Bhavan on Wednesday evening as a part of the Cabinet reshuffle exercise, the Centre allotted portfolios to the newly inducted ministers. Home Minister Amit Shah will be in charge of the newly created Ministry of Cooperation, Ashwini Vasihnaw has been given ministries of Railways, Communications and Electronics, and Information Technology. Kiren Rijiju will be the new Minister of Law and Justice.


43 leaders including Jyotiraditya Scindia, Narayan Rane, and Sarbananda Sonowal Wednesday took oath as part of the Cabinet minister of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government. 15 Cabinet ministers sworn at the ceremony held in the Darbar Hall of the Rashtrapati Bhawan.


Amongst those who took oath included Ajay Bhatt, Bhupender Yadav, Shobha Karandlaje, Sunita Duggal, Meenakshi Lekhi, Bharati Pawar, Shantanu Thakur, LJP’s Pashupati Paras, and Apna Dal’s Anupriya Patel. Meanwhile, ahead of the much-expected reshuffle, at least 12 ministers have resigned from the council of ministers. Among them include IT Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad, Health Minister Harsh Vardhan, Environment Minister Prakash Javdekar, Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, and Labour Minister Santosh Gangwar.
