Tamil Nadu’s government has order Vedanta, to shut down its copper unit at Tuticorin.
O Panneerselvam, Tamil Nadu Deputy Chief Minister stated, “Today, the main demand of the people is that the copper plant should be permanently closed. In keeping with their demand, it is shut now. I would like to make it clear that Sterlite plant will be permanently shut.”
He further stated that, even if there are legal challenges in relation to the closure, the government will face them and will take resolute steps to permanently close down the Vedanta group’s copper unit in Tamil Nadu.
