Nifty Above 17,000, Sensex Adds 174 Points

In today’s morning trade, the Nifty traded above the 17,000 mark. PSU bank, banks stocks and oil & gas stocks advanced while media, consumer durables goods and pharma stocks declined.

The barometer index, the S&P BSE Sensex, was up 174.54 points or 0.30 per cent to 57,320.86. The Nifty 50 index added 57.35 points or 0.34 per cent to 17,040.90. Also, the S&P BSE Mid-Cap index rose 0.11 per cent while the S&P BSE Small-Cap index added 0.02 per cent.

On the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), 1640 shares rose, and 1455 shares fell. A total of 150 shares were the same. Domestic Institutional investors (DII) shares were net buyers to the tune of Rs 2,430.76 crore in the Indian equity market, and Foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) sold shares worth Rs 4,612.67 crore.

Today, these stocks, Wipro is up 0.28 per cent; Sterling and Wilson Renewable Energy are up 1.37 per cent; HCL Technologies is up 2.33 per cent, and Artson Engineering is up 0.54 per cent and will announce their financial results for the second quarter of FY23.

On 11 October, Infosys was up 0.36 per cent and announced that Ravi Kumar S. resigned as President effective from 11 October 2022. Mr Kumar led the Infosys global delivery organization across all global industry segments.

Also, Genesys International Corporation declined 0.66 per cent. The company bagged Rs 46 crore for the land titling project by the government of Andhra Pradesh. The project involves resurveying with modern technology using CORS Network, aerial systems and GNSS Receiver.

Meanwhile, Suzlon Energy rose 0.14 per cent after the announcement that it has received a new order to develop 144.9 megawatts (MW) of wind power projects for the Aditya Birla Group. Suzlon will install 69 wind turbine generators (Wind Turbines) units with a hybrid lattice tubular (HLT) tower and a rated capacity of 2.1 MW each.
