NSE, BSE to Remain Closed Today On Account of Dussehra

Stock exchanges will remain closed on October 24 for Dussehra.

Indian stock market bourses, the National Stock Exchange (NSE) and Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) will remain closed on Tuesday, October 24, 2023, on account of Dussehra or Vijaydashmi. There will be no trading in the equity, equity derivatives and securities lending and borrowing (SLB) segments, and it will resume on Wednesday, October 25.

Additionally, trading in the currency derivatives market will also be closed today. However, trading in the commodity markets and Electronic Gold Receipts (EGR) will be closed for the first half, and trading will be open only in the evening session.

In October, this is the second festive holiday after Gandhi Jayanti. The total number of stock market holidays in 2023 is 15, while the markets were shut on 13 festival occasions in 2022. Three more stock market holidays are left for the rest of 2023 – Diwali Balipratipada on November 14, Gurunanak Jayanti on November 27, and Christmas on December 25.

On Monday, October 23, domestic equity benchmark indices closed in deep red, continuing their losing streak for the fourth straight session. BSE’s S&P Sensex and NSE Nifty 50 declined about 1.3% each, while broader markets underperformed the frontline indices.
