PFC shares hit a day high of Rs 325.45, up 2%, after Q2 standalone profit rose 11.8% to Rs 4,986.71 crore and it declared a Rs 4.10 dividend.

Power Finance Corporation Limited told exchanges on 4 November that its board cleared results for the quarter ended 30 September.

Standalone profit after tax came in at Rs 4,986.71 crore, against Rs 4,461.94 crore a year earlier. Profit grew faster than income.

Total income edged up about 1.5% to Rs 14,973.11 crore from Rs 14,756.14 crore.

Profit before tax, which is what the company earns before paying income tax, rose to Rs 6,157.13 crore from Rs 5,539.89 crore.

Over the first six months, profit after tax reached Rs 9,732.11 crore, up from Rs 8,963.44 crore.

The board also declared a second interim dividend of Rs 4.10 per share, or 41% of the Rs 10 face value.

Shareholders on record on 17 November qualify, and the payment will land on or before 4 December.

Shareholders have been paid before. A Rs 3.95 dividend went ex-dividend on 31 July, and the first interim dividend of Rs 3.90 followed on 27 August.

PFC also gave an update on its planned merger with REC Limited.

The Reserve Bank of India issued a no-objection certificate on 15 October and BSE and NSE sent their own letters on 19 October, but the scheme still needs approval from shareholders and creditors of both companies, plus sanction from the Ministry of Corporate Affairs.

PFC shares closed at Rs 322.50 on NSE, up by 1.42% from the previous close of Rs 318.00.

About 114.38 lakh shares, worth Rs 366.99 crore, changed hands during the day.

It’s still down 11.19% in 2026 and about 34% below its 52-week high of Rs 486.50 from 28 April. The company’s market value is Rs 1,06,428.28 crore.
