Pfizer Asks FDA to Allow Vaccine For Kids Under 5 Year Age

Pfizer has requested the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to permit its Covid-19 vaccine for children under five years of age, which will open the way for the kids to start receiving shots by March.

If the FDA agrees, the Pfizer Covid-19 vaccine can be given to kids as young as six months. Pfizer also said that it had started submitting its data to the FDA and expects to complete the process in a few days. One question is how many shots needs to be administered to the children. That’s why Pfizer tested three shots that turned out to be strong enough for babies but not for school going kids. That means the FDA may authorize only two shots for now, and potentially a third shot will be cleared later after further studies.
