Piyush Goyal Meets 15 Dutch Companies Under India-EU FTA

Piyush Goyal
The meeting comes as India and the European Union move towards a free trade agreement.

Piyush Goyal, Commerce and Industry Minister, met senior executives from 15 Dutch companies in the Netherlands on 26 October to discuss investment opportunities and stronger business ties with India.

The meeting comes as India and the European Union move towards a free trade agreement (FTA), which could create new opportunities for businesses in both regions.

The meeting was organised by the Indian Embassy in The Hague in partnership with HSBC Netherlands. Discussions covered potential investments, business partnerships and ways to increase cooperation between Indian and Dutch companies.

Goyal also held individual meetings with executives from sectors such as semiconductors, electronics, logistics, energy, technology, industrial solutions and retail. He encouraged Dutch businesses to expand their operations in India and explore opportunities in manufacturing, innovation and technology.

Goyal also attended the India-Netherlands Business Forum in The Hague, which brought together around 200 representatives from Indian and Dutch businesses. The forum was jointly chaired by Goyal and Dutch Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation Sjoerd Sjoerdsma.

Business leaders discussed how the proposed India-EU FTA could improve market access, strengthen supply chains and encourage investment between India and Europe. The event also included sector-focused discussions and business networking sessions.

Goyal highlighted the Netherlands’ role as an important entry point for Indian companies looking to reach European markets. Its logistics network, port infrastructure and established business connections could help Indian firms expand their international presence.

The discussions form part of India’s broader effort to strengthen economic ties with European countries. For Indian businesses, the proposed FTA could create opportunities to increase exports, attract investment and build technology partnerships.

However, the actual benefits will depend on the final terms of the agreement and how effectively companies use the improved trade and investment opportunities.
