PM Narendra Modi cancelled his scheduled visit to Ferozepur after a security breach on the National Martyrs Memorial at Hussainiwala. He was stuck on a flyover for 15-20 minutes as the road was blocked by protestors. PM Modi landed in Bathinda and was scheduled to visit Ferozepur to lay foundation stones for many development projects and address the people at the event.

The MHA claims that the PM’s schedule and travel plan was shared in advance with the Punjab government. “As per procedure, they have asked to make all the arrangements for logistics, security as well as keep a backup plan ready. The Punjab Government has to secure any movement by road was clearly not deployed,” the MHA statement said.
