PM Modi Inaugurates Dahod Locomotive Plant, Flags Off Electric Engine

The facility will produce 9000 HP electric locomotives for both domestic use and exports.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on 26th May, inaugurated a locomotive manufacturing plant in Dahod, Gujarat, and flagged off its first electric locomotive.

The facility will produce 9000 HP electric locomotives for both domestic use and exports, aimed at boosting Indian Railways’ freight capacity and promoting energy efficiency through regenerative braking.

PM Modi also launched development projects worth over Rs 24,000 crore in Dahod, including several related to rail infrastructure and the state government.

Later, in Bhuj, he laid foundation stones and inaugurated projects worth Rs 53,400 crore across power, ports, and transport sectors.

In Gandhinagar, the Prime Minister will commemorate 20 years of Gujarat’s Urban Growth Story, launch Urban Development Year 2025, and unveil new initiatives under PMAY and other state schemes.
