PM Modi to Chair First National Meeting of Chief Secretaries

According to a statement, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will chair the inaugural meeting of national chief secretaries in Dharamsala, Himachal Pradesh, from June 16 to 17.

“This will be an important step in further strengthening the partnership between the centre and the state government,” the government said.

The National Conference of Chief Secretaries may have over 200 participants representing central government, states, Union Territories and domain experts.

The government said the meeting aims to lay the foundation for higher growth cooperative action in sustainable development, job creation, education, living convenience and agricultural self-reliance.

The concept and agenda for the meeting were developed after more than 100 rounds of deliberation over six months. Topics requiring detailed consideration include implementing national education policies, urban governance, crop diversification, and achieving self-sufficiency in oilseeds, pulses and other agricultural products.

The government said the outcome of the meeting will be considered at the NITI Aayog Council meeting, which will be attended by Chief Ministers and administrators of all states and Union Territories to finalise the action plan after consensus is reached at the highest level.
