PM Modi to Hold Virtually National Meeting of Mayors in Gujarat Today

Narendra Modi - Prime Minister of India.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will hold a two-day “National Conference of Mayors” in Gujarat’s capital Gandhinagar on Tuesday, the BJP leader said.

As many as 121 mayors and deputy mayors of local agencies in the NPP-ruled cities will take part in the two-day event, which will be organised by the party’s “sushasan (good governance) cell”, BJP state secretary Rituraj Sinha said.

“PM Modi will virtually speak at the opening of the National Conference of Mayors on Tuesday morning. He will guide guests on urban development,” Sinha told reporters in Gandhinagar on Monday.

He said BJP national president JP Nadda would also be present at the inauguration. In contrast, others who will be there over the two days include Maharashtra deputy chief minister Devendra Fadnavis and federal housing and urban affairs minister Hardeep Singh Puri.

“Fadnavis will share his vision for the city’s development and Puri will present to the guests the various government programmes for local institutions in the city. In total, mayors, deputy mayors and other elected representatives from 18 states and federal territories will participate and share views on waste management, traffic management and waterlogging,” Sinha said.

He added that the mayors of Surat, Indore, Kanpur and Panaji would brief the audience on what they are doing in their respective cities in waste management, cleaning and revenue generation.
