PM Modi to Lay Foundation Stone for Rs 29,000 Project During Gujarat Tour

The projects include rail and road works and a memorial dedicated to Rani Durgavati.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will unveil or lay the foundation stone for several infrastructure and development projects worth more than Rs 29,000 crore during a two-day visit to Gujarat starting Thursday.


Some of the mega-projects that will have inauguration/groundbreaking ceremonies include the world’s first CNG terminal at Bhavnagar, the first phase of the Ahmedabad Metro and Metro station in Surat, Gujarat. by the government on Wednesday.


During the visit, PM will inaugurate the Gandhinagar-Mumbai Central Vande Bharat Express train and the 36th National Games, which will be held for the first time in Gujarat.


Modi’s home state of Gujarat is due to hold parliamentary elections before the end of the year, and the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is going all out to retain power in the state, which it has ruled for nearly 30 years.
Modi will start his visit from Surat on September 29 at the city’s Limbayat after launching projects worth Rs 3,400 crore, including work on the first phase of DREAM City, the press release said.


After Surat, the prime minister will arrive in Bhavnagar to launch projects worth nearly Rs 6,000 crore, including laying the foundation stone for the world’s first CNG terminal and a brownfield port.


The press release said that the prime minister plans to conduct a 2 km roadshow before speaking at a rally in the Jawahar Chowk area of Bhavnagar city at around 2 pm.


Modi will open the 36th National Games at a grand ceremony at Narendra Modi Stadium in the Motera district of Ahmedabad at around 7 pm. The National Games will be held from September 29 to October 12.


At around 9 pm, Modi will attend the Gujarat government’s Navratri festival at the GMDC venue in Ahmedabad. On Friday, the prime minister will get off the first Vande Bharat express train between Gandhinagar and central Mumbai.
The release said he would be alighted from Gandhinagar Capital Railway Station at around 10.30 am. It said he would also take the train from Gandhinagar to Kalupur station in Ahmedabad.


The press release also mentioned that PM would launch the long-awaited first phase of the Ahmedabad Metro project in Kalupur, which will cost Rs 12,925 crore. Modi will board a Metro train at Kalupur and reach Doordarshan Centre at Thaltej, where he is scheduled to address a public meeting at around 12 noon, the statement said.


In the evening, Modi will reach Ambaji town in Banaskantha district to launch projects worth Rs 7,200 crore. After addressing a gathering, the release said he will perform ‘aarti’ at the famous Ambaji temple and pay homage to the deity.
