PM Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation for development projects in Kanpur worth Rs 47,600 crore in Uttar Pradesh on 30th May.

Key highlight: Kanpur Metro’s new underground route from Chunniganj to Kanpur Central is worth over Rs 2,120 crore. It features 14 stations, including five underground ones.

Road and power upgrades included GT Road widening and a 220 kV substation in YEIDA. Additionally, there are 132 kV substations in Greater Noida worth over Rs 320 crore.

Major energy boost: 660 MW Panki Thermal Power Extension Project (Rs 8,300 crore) and three 660 MW units of Ghatampur Thermal Electricity Project (Rs 9,330 crore).

The PM also opened two rail overbridges in Kanpur to ease coal transport and local traffic. Furthermore, he launched a 40 MLD sewage treatment plant in Bingawan.

Other infrastructure projects include road upgrades for industrial and defence connectivity. There is also the distribution of welfare benefits under central schemes.
